Desire at Will with Adrienna Turner

Desire At Will is a spiritual nonfiction book. We have the desire to serve God at our will. Who will you choose to serve all the days of your life? We have the willpower to choose who we will serve through our decision-making process to yield our spirits to God. Once we yield to God, we are motivated to be in the operation of God’s will. Moreover, there are encouraging and edifying ways to process our emotions and to develop our will to make godly choices.

There are five components being in the operation of God’s will: hear the voice of God (through His Word, other believers, and hearing from the Father); comprehend what He is speaking to our spirits; evaluate through discernment; choose to follow Christ; and act on it.

We are created to worship. We can also communicate with God through prayer, thank our Lord for His goodness through praise, and in everything we do is to glorify God.

AAH: Who is Adrienna Turner?
AT:Adrienna Turner is an accomplished author of several nonfiction and poetry works. Her latest book is "Desire at Will"--nonfiction spiritual book. She is now signed to GSH Publishing for her Young Adult Fiction novel entitled "Mirror, Beware!" that will be available in Spring 2010. She also writes under pseudonym names for her fiction projects under science-fiction/horror; romance draspensedy (drama, romance, suspense); fantasy/supernatural fiction; and suspense thrillers.

Additionally, Adrienna is a book reviewer for AAMBC (African Americans on the Move Book Club) and Dream 4 More Reviews. She showcases these reviews posted on Dream 4 More Reviews on her Internet radio show entitled Dream4More on BlogTalkRadio (www.blogtalkradio.com/Dream4More) and Adrienna Turner on BlogTalkRadio (www.blogtalkradio.com/Adrienna-Turner) over a year to showcase her literary consulting talents, author spotlights, and literary market as a whole.

Her passion is encouraging and edifying other aspiring writers to believe in their work, to polish it, and make it marketable. Therefore, she started a literary firm called Dream 4 More Literary Consulting Firm to help new and aspiring authors to showcase their books and enhance their writing projects to become a masterpiece. Other passions are youth involvement, community, and legal field.

AAH:What are your current projects?
AT:Mirror, Beware! will be released in Spring 2010 or sooner with GSH Publishing. I am working on Miss the Mark Series, book 4 our of 7 series. I am editing Unleashing the Spirit, Volume 1 and God is in the Equation to be ready for print in 2010/2011. I have a triology called S.H.E. (SHE Swagger, SHE Destined and SHE Mastered) that I will be working on in 2010 for Young Adults.

AAH:Do you see writing as a career or a hobby?
AT:I see writing as both. I see writing as a hobby, because writing is something I enjoy doing whether I get paid or not. I have done freelancing jobs without pay to write articles for online magazines and in print magazines. I also blog, chat, and enjoy sending emails--prefer to write than speak on the phone most of the time. I bear my heart and soul in my writings.

I also see writing as a career since I want to be a full-time writer/author. God has showed me my calling and want to excel in my gift. I see no boundaries or limits and keep exceeding with the talents and abilities God instilled in me.

AAH:Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
AT:I love to read mysteries, suspense thrillers, self-help books on an inspirational level, some memoirs, nonfiction books on business, health, wealth, and spiritual growth; poetry, Urban and Christian fiction, some drama and romance, and some science fiction. I also read Yong Adult books.

There are too many authors to name, but to name some, they are Vanessa Davis Griggs, Joyce Meyer, T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Vanessa Miller, Starr Sanders, Sheila Lipsey, L.A. Banks, and Adrienna Dionna Turner. What strikes me most about all these writers is that they write to inspire, aspire, to enlighten our literacy with page-turning books, to educate and keep us begging for more. I also read all types of books since I am a book reviewer for AAMBC and receive books at author’s request

AAH:Do you have any advice for other writers?
AT:Writers who are also avid readers allows us to study other author’s works, to learn what makes your audience tick or captivate them, study the style of writing, and most importantly, create your own writing style by noting what your dislikes and likes are that other authors do in their books.

You have to first believe in yourself, since no one else will. Do not give up on your dream. Be willing to seek a good editor, ask for references, and sample works. They also can do a chapter or thirty pages at no cost to see if you want to use their services first. This is a partner relationship, where the editor is to make the author’s manuscript better. Be prepared for financial expenses, it is best to research and do your homework on the craft as an author, review other author’s books in the genres you plan to write, and find out information on the publishing gig. Decide what is best for you! No surprises if you do your homework. If you do not want to do it, there are literary services to assist you. I started a literary consulting firm called Dream 4 More Literary Consulting Firm to help new and aspiring authors to learn more about the publishing business and marketing you!

AAH:When did you write your first book and how old were you?
AT:I wrote my first poem and short story when I was eleven years old. My first novella was published in May 2004, Mystery Lies Within. Then, September 2005, From the Depths of My Soul: Collection of Poetry and Songs. In 2008, Half of the Battle is to Surrender All I Have (poetry) and The Day Begins with Christ. My latest book, December 2009, Desire at Will.

AAH:What do you like to do when you're not writing?
AT:When I am not writing, I enjoy researching and reading. I continue to learn the market, study other writers' style and learn the craft of writing. I also enjoy reading other authors and writers work, both new and legendary. I am a reviewer for a book club and Dream 4 More Reviews. I also write articles for Celebrity Report Magazine, Heavenly Magazine, and Associated Content Press. I have two online radio showcases: Adrienna Turner and Dream4More on BlogTalkRadio to showcase authors, literary news and social/political information. Lastly, I enjoy acting! I am currently in a stage play entitled Are you Ready.

AAH:What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
AT:As writers and authors, we have to remove our egos and allow an editor to dissect our manuscripts with feedback and ways to improve or develop our manuscripts before they are in print. We sometimes get in our feelings and upright about the editing process, where we have to accept the changes made to enhance our manuscripts before the reader tears us apart with criticism, opinions, and feedback or reviews. Overall, editing is the most emotional and grueling part of being an author or writer. Writing is the easiest part of the equation. Marketing and promoting is another challenging aspect of being a published author. How can you compete with so many talented and new authors on the market every year? This will be surprising to most authors and writers who want to publish their books. We do not become rich and famous overnight--so please remove this thought immediately and be ready for ongoing growth process in the literary market, both good and bad.

AAH:How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
AT:I have written over ten books (some are still in manuscript format or process of writing). I have several published at this time and two or more to be published in 2010. I write both nonficiton and fiction books.

My most enjoyable one to write is my inspirational drama-suspense series entitled Miss the Mark Series. Book 1: Dream's Reality.

My most accomplished book at this time is The Day Begins with Christ and latest release, Desire at Will.

The most challenging book to write and research to where I did not want to actually start on it, would be Unleashing the Spirit (Volumes 1-3) to be released in 2010/2011.

AAH:Do you like to create books for adults?
AT:I write books for both adults and young adults. Our children is our future and I want to reach them in the literary world as well. They are saturated with erotica and street literature, where they need books that have drama but inspirational without the sex and profanity.

AAH:Where are you from?
SK: I'm from Chicago by way of the South ;)

AAH:When did you write your first book and how old were you?
SK:I wrote my first book when I was in 8th grade. My heroine visited Ecuador and fell for a teenage boy there. It was the first time I felt the magic of creating something and watching characters come alive. I'll always remember that.

AAH:If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? I would have to say Brenda Jackson and Beverly Jenkins. When I had seriously started crafting a romance novel, I thought of my two favorites. They write three-dimensional characters that grasp you by the throat and don't let go. The interactions between the characters often stay with you long after the story has ended. I looked up to these two wonderful authors due to how their words and stories touched me.

AAH:Do you have a specific writing style?
SK:I think my writing style has changed as my life has changed. I've gone from writing mostly novellas, to branching out to novels. Once I got over the hurdle of change, grasped the differences in how I use to write, how I approached storytelling, I began to feel the floor underneath my feet again. It took a while though. What I learned is to embrace it all!

AAH:What are your current projects?
SK:Currently, I'm working on a paranormal novella title Chosen, a sexy mystery novel, Like Sour for Sweet and having a ball delving into the mystery genre.

Author K.D. Harris's Poisonous Pen

Author K.D. Harris
“The Chick with the Poison in her Pen…”

“I am a fox.” (Miss Harris smiles) I mean my writing style is much like a fox in its nature. It’s unexpected, it sneaks up on you, and I like it just like that.” K.D. Harris is a 32 year old Delaware native, she attended Shaw University, and is a proud mother of two. Don’t however allow this seemingly simple up bringing to fool you in anyway. There is nothing simple or average about Ms. K.D. Harris or her literary works. Which is why, it was no surprise when she on a whim, sent in her novel Poison to Cartel Productions and they signed her two weeks later. Ms. Harris considers herself to be an extreme writer and she is absolutely right. With the release of her first novel Poison the world was shocked, riveted, and blown away by the unexpected twist and turns found on each and every page of her book. Poison 2: A fatal Attraction was released in the Fall of 2009, which has also been deemed to be a page turner. But that’s to be expected. Ms. Harris specializes in “Taboo Literature”, that’s right K.D. prides herself with being a writer unafraid to air the “dirty laundry” of life experiences. However she offers life lessons to be learned for the decisions we make. When asked how she plans on reinventing her writing style with time, she says “I am an extreme writer I always will be, but I don’t want to be stuck in one genre. So look for me in the erotica section.” (We both share a laugh) K.D. Harris is without the shadow of a doubt an awesome writer, who’s talent oozes form every page of her book. Most importantly however she is a devoted mother. K.D. says she never considered herself a writer although she always wrote. “You know, I didn’t really believe in myself, but I pushed and did it, I wanted to show my babies to never be afraid to pursue your dreams, and now there is no looking back for me!” In 2010 K.D will launch her own Publishing house K.D Harris Publications. In the Spring of 2010 she will release Beyond Measure the first Installment of the Eccentric Bliss Series.

KDH: Ok Let me give you a snippet : Beyond Measure...

Later that evening we were supposed to check out the fireworks for the New Year’s celebration. I sat on the bed waiting for Lorenz, but drifted off to sleep. When I woke up, it was 11pm. Damn I thought, why didn't he wake me it's almost time for the countdown. I looked around the room, and he was nowhere to be found. That was odd. I decided to check downstairs, maybe he was waiting for me. Then a horrific thought came to my mind. What if Camille and Shelly told him about what went down at the Jacuzzi earlier? Oh God. He would be pissed. I didn’t even tell him I was going to hang out with them. I had to get to him before they could do any damage. I just pray that I wasn’t too late.

I ran out of the room and made it only to the top the staircase, before I was distracted by noises coming from the master bedroom. For some reason I felt myself being drawn to room; like I was bewitched. I peeked around the corner I noticed the door was wide open. Candles and incense were lit all around the room. Large pillars with burning candles, where at each corner of the bed. In the middle of the bed Greg laid while his manhood was being engulfed in Camille’s mouth. Shelly sat straddled across his face, winding her body seductively. Shelly arched her back as Greg drove his fingers deeply into her plump bottom, causing a rippling effect to take place.

I couldn't take my eyes off them. I felt a pulsating sensation between my legs. Chills ran through my body rousing emotions and feelings I would rather stay in a siesta. The display of pornographic exhilaration had me spellbound.

Camille removed Greg’s erect cock from her moth and stood at the side of the bed.

Her dark skin shimmered from beads of sweat that covered her body. Greg continued to satisfy Shelly causing her to buck wildly as he man handled her pussy with his experienced tongue. No words were shared amongst the trio just moans, and cries of eccentric elation; which was like fine music to my ears. I was mesmerized by the melody of their erotic symphony. After a loud scream and quickened convulsive movements, Shelly went limp and plummeted to the side of the bed.

Camille stood there breathing rapidly awaiting to be caught up in Greg’s rapture. Greg arose from the bed reminding me of a black Adonis. He grabbed Camille by the waist and swept her off her feet without effort. She wrapped her long legs around his waist as they kissed passionately like two teenagers madly in love. Visions of the night we shared danced through my mind. Jealousy overtook me as I watched Greg caress and show affection his wife; the kind of affection he never once showed me. The one who did everything he wanted without question, the one who could be carrying his only child. Camille took his dick with force and inserted it inside of her. Their rhythm together was perfect as he pounded deep inside her. For her to be so small she took it like a champ as he bucked her body against his.

The pulsating feeling between my thighs became so intense that secretion of my juices began to escape and trickle down the side. I backed away from the room and stumbled. I turned around and was face to face with Shelly. I was so caught up with the show in front of me that I didn’t notice her disappear from the room. She had a devilish grin painted across her face. I froze. I was so embarrassed. She directed her attention to the wet spot that appeared on my light pink pants and licked her lips exposing the tongue ring. She moved in closer to me, so close that her erect nipples were practically stabbing me in my own breast.

“You like what you see Miss Sasha? Would you like a closer look…I won’t bite, unless you would like me too.” She whispered. Her breath was hot on my lips.

My heart began to beat triple time. I was in the most uncomfortable and confusing situation I could ever recall. This was far worse than the night in Greg’s office. Part of me wanted to run away from all of this and another part wanted to go jump in that bed and let them have their way.

Shelly backed away smiling and motioning for me to follow her. I watched her move seductively towards the bedroom....

Stay tuned!

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Staying on task! I get carried away with it sometimes. Its like I become one with the character and that can be scary depending on which one I'm writing about.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work? Kwan Hoodlum was my favorite book. He is so hood and real. Leondrei Prince is also the truth Merry fuckin xmas was awesome.

AAH:Who designed the covers?
KDH:Davida Baldwin did the Posion covers, Junnita Jackson has designed VOl. II Until Death which will be out late 2010.

AAH:Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
KDH:Brace your yourself, it ain't over!
